A extended journey through the Land Down Under was terminated days after the death of an elderly lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a isolated tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The liner left without her and came back after some time after the ship staff realised the woman was missing.

A large-scale hunt found her person the following day.

Authorities are investigating the tragedy, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that passengers and personnel on the ship were informed that the continuation of the cruise had been terminated due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he added that passengers would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the passengers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also issued an latest announcement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Master" preventing any additional guests from getting on the ship.

The official said that they would visit the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

The ship first departed the Australian port on October 24th, and was just two days into the journey at the time of the 80-year-old's passing. The remote island was the first stop on the voyage.

Guests on the vessel - who typically pay tens of thousands of dollars to take part in the cruise - were taken there for a shore visit with the choice of hiking or snorkelling.

Family Reaction

The child of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "shocked and distressed that the liner left Lizard Island after an organised outing without my parent".

Through her comments, she portrayed her parent as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a participant of a walking organization.

"According to scant details we have been informed, it appears that there was a breakdown of responsibility and common sense," she said.

She added that she wished the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have done that might have saved Mum's life".

"Based on information from the investigators that it was a very hot day, and she took sick on the hill climb," she revealed.

"She was asked her to head down, alone. Then the ship sailed away, reportedly without performing a roll call.

"At a certain moment in that sequence, or soon after, mother died, alone."

In a statement, the Chief Executive confirmed that the organization was "working closely with investigators to aid their investigation".

He mentioned that the company was "deeply sorry that this has happened" and had provided its total backing to the loved ones.

The ship caters for up to one hundred twenty guests with 46 crew, according to corporate information. It was specially constructed to enter remote locations of the nation's coast and is outfitted with "small boats" - compact vessels used to transport travelers on land visits.
