Tehran is willing to restart atomic discussions with Washington as long as it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi stated only diplomacy produced results, and disclosed fresh requests had originated from intermediaries to resume discussions with the US government. He asserted Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Iran had not yet reached a point to permit the global atomic watchdog to visit struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Challenging Course

Araghchi is navigating a complex route since Iran wishes not to appear to be acting from a situation of disadvantage, and he emphatically stated that Iran had emerged more powerful in military terms and psychologically from the joint assault on its atomic facilities in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to process nuclear material domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Earlier Negotiations Suddenly Ended

The previous five rounds of talks between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and hostile end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, struck Iranian nuclear sites in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the American leader asserting the facilities had been destroyed. Subsequently, European countries exercised their right to restore international penalties, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Offered

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in prior discussions, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Both sides would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have continued and the US could be certain that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been decided in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could function inside Iran, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion. Officials claimed repeatedly they had secured an understanding with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff only for the agreement to disintegrate due to "detractors in America".

Current Situation

Tehran representatives said the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems very probable the suggestion could be revived in various formats if discussions reopen.

He stated the attacks began with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an complete request for a halt to hostilities.
